BIOFLOAT™ 384-well plates (4 Plates per pack) F224384
Ready-to-use for spheroid cell culture The BIOFLOAT™ 384-well plate provides a highly defined, fully inert, and cell-repelling surface.
Product Characteristics:
Plate color: clear
Well bottom: round (U – bottom)
Recommended working volume: 50 µl
Material: Polystyrene (PS)
RESEARCH USE ONLY. NOT INTENDED FOR DIAGNOSTIC OR THERAPEUTIC USE.
The BIOFLOAT™ 384-well plate outperforms existing products by its anti-adhesive properties:
1. Rapid spheroid formation – BIOFLOAT plates are supporting faster cell aggregation into spheroids compared to competitor plates. Spheroids are usually forming within 24 hours after cell seeding in BIOFLOAT plates.
2. High reproducibility of spheroid generation – A single perfectly round-shaped spheroid is forming in each well of BIOFLOAT plates, without any further satellites or cell aggregates.
3. Reliable spheroid formation – Spheroids can be generated in BIOFLOAT plates with a variety of different cell types, including tumor cell lines, human and animal primary cells and stem cells.
4. No need for centrifugation – Centrifugation after cell seeding is not needed, saving time and reducing cellular stress.
5. Stability in long term cultivation of spheroids – Highly viable and functional spheroids can be cultivated for several months in BIOFLOAT plates.

Why choose BIOFLOAT™ 384-well plates?
Stability in long-term cultivation of 3D spheroids
Scratch-resistant
Repellent to protein and hydrophobic compounds
Cell repellent
Optimized for organoids
The reliable quality of the BIOFLOAT™ cell culture surface enables the formation of perfect spheroids
even for challenging cells. This also includes cells that do not form spheroids on existing products.

Cardiac myocytes

Endothelial cells

Primary hepatocytes

Alveolar epithelial cells

Neuronal stem cells
Raw Material Processing
The product does not use any rawmaterials of animal or biological origin and therefore does not have TSE/BSE.
The polymer raw materials used for coating plates were positively evaluated for quality consistency using GPC, GC-MS and NMR spectroscopy.
The sterile, non-pyrogenic/endotoxin-free, non-cytotoxic, DNase-/RNase-/DNA-free multi-well plates were coated using pipetting robots. Coated plates were sterilized by electron beam irradiation

We used the BIOFLOAT™ 384-well plates to generate spheroids and they worked well for our setup. Cells aggregated into single spheroids in most wells and did not attach to the surface.

We worked with BIOFLOAT™ 384-well plates to establish spheroid cultures for imaging-based assays. Spheroid formation was reproducible and well-to-well variation was low for our cell line. The plates allowed us to scale down volumes compared to lower-density formats, which was helpful for early-stage experiments. While further optimization is always needed depending on the model, the plates were a good fit for our workflow.

We had the chance to test the BIOFLOAT™ 384-well plates for 3D spheroid formation with HCT-116 and HepG2 cells. Overall, the plates performed as expected. Cells aggregated quickly and formed one main spheroid per well in most cases. The small well volume was useful for running many conditions in parallel while keeping reagent use low.
